I’m a girl, I don’t fart and I like anything that comes in pink, so it pains me to have to say it that way: XCVB sucks dead monkey balls. Intentionally crappy controls do not make a game « challenging ». Ugly and lazy graphics do not qualify as « minimalist design ».
The only decent thing about it is Jarrydn’s soundtrack, to which the 3 stars are mercifully granted.
So why pick a bad game to review? Well, because sometimes it’s good to remember that we shouldn’t take good games, or even average ones, for granted. Especially when they’re free.
This review is not against the creator of XCVB, it’s an opportunity to pay tribute to those who spend a lot of time programming, designing, writing and putting together truly fun games, like Dead End Street, All Roads Lead to the Underground or Swords and Souls to name just a few.
